Garter Springs

Conical springs are a type of compression spring, the most common metal spring configuration. The coil diameters of this type of spring are variable, but are generally tapered and more laterally stable. They are less likely to buckle due to an outer diameter that grows over the length of the spring. Such springs have lower solid heights because the springs nest upon compression.

Product Features
They are a type of extension spring with ends connected to make a garter belt that will exert force from its inner diameter.  A compression garter spring exerts outward radial forces, while extension garter springs exert inward radial forces.  These springs are supplied and assembled with the ends already interlocked.
Application
The primary application is to maintain lip seal pressure on a shaft and include:
• Oil seals
• Shaft seals
• Small drive belts
• Belt-driven motors
• Electrical connectors
